Tomas Alfredson to Direct Jo Nesbo's The Snowman | English

Tomas Alfredson, the director of "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" and "Let the Right One In," has signed on to develop the Jo Nesbo crime novel The Snowman for Working Title Films and Universal.

The Snowman is the seventh entry in the Harry Hole Series from the Norwegian crime writer. The story follows detective Hole as he investigates the disappearance of a woman whose pink scarf has been found wrapped around a mysterious snowman.

This marks the first significant project for Alfredson following the success of "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" in 2011. Martin Scorsese, who was previously linked to the project as a potential director, will executive produce alongside Nesbo, Niclas Salomonsson, Liza Chasin, and Amelia Granger. Alfredson will work with writer Soren Sveistrup on the screenplay.

Nesbo made headlines earlier this year when Deadline reported that Blood On Snow, a new book series under the pen name Tom Johansen, was drawing interest from Leonardo DiCaprio and director Daniel Espinosa after Warner Brothers acquired the rights. If you were thinking that maybe, just maybe, DiCaprio and Scorsese would join forces, I wouldn't get your hopes up. It seems like it's just a coincidence they're attached to Nesbo adaptations. That being said, no names have been attached to the cast of The Snowman so your guess is as good as ours.
